Inn and Spa at Loretto’s Luminaria Restaurant to Showcase Thomas Fogarty Wines and Grgich Hills at Special Winemaker Dinners in September

Following a successful midsummer opening, Luminaria Restaurant, located at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, has scheduled the first of many special winemaker dinners.

Santa Fe, NM - Sept. 2, 2008 - Following a successful midsummer opening, Luminaria Restaurant, located at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, has scheduled the first of many special winemaker dinners. The two winemaker dinners in September feature popular California wineries which will be paired with Chef Brian Cooper's menu selections.

Thomas Fogarty Wines will enhance a five-course meal created by Chef Cooper for the first dinner which is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 24. Chef Cooper's carefully crafted menu will include lobster and citrus salad, pan-roasted quail, Serrano-wrapped veal, elk rack and pineapple tart tatin with coconut ice cream. Situated in the Santa Cruz Mountains, Thomas Fogarty produces single-vineyard pinot noirs, chardonnays, merlots and cabernets that capture the unique character of the mountains.

The wines of Grgich Hills will be featured Thursday, Sept. 25, accompanying a meal of Alaskan oysters and cucumber sorbet, seared scallop with red pepper spaetzle, seared foie gras and Spanish almond and tomato crusted lamb followed by an apricot goat cheese tart. Grgich Hills first gained international recognition at the celebrated 1976 Paris Tasting. The now-historic blind tasting put California wines on the map and the subsequent story of how Napa was pushed to the forefront of the wine world which can be seen in the upcoming movie Bottle Shock.

The dinners will be served in Luminaria's warm and inviting dining room, accented with the glow of a kiva fireplace and an abundance of votives and luminaries. Chef Cooper uses local, farm-fresh organic foods to create simple yet innovative American fare accented with bold Southwestern flavors.

Each meal begins with a reception at 6 p.m. Cost for the Thomas Fogarty dinner is $125 and cost for the Grgich Hills dinner is $150 per person. For more information or to make a reservation, call (505) 984-7915.
