SANTA FE, NM - April 11, 2008 - The Inn and Spa at Loretto, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts, is launching a new, signature Drive Green Package this month, coinciding with a visit from Mikhail Gorbachev to the property. Gorbachev, the former President of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and founder of Green Cross International, is in Santa Fe to discuss environmental sustainability.

The Inn's Drive Green Package provides vacationers with an additional 20 percent off of lodging rates when they drive a hybrid vehicle to the property. Guests also receive complimentary parking for their hybrid car while staying at the Inn. Guests must mention the type of car they are driving when booking the reservation. The Drive Green Package is available year round, based on availability.

Gorbachev, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, will make his first ever visit to Santa Fe later this month, giving a press conference at the Inn and Spa and Loretto April 14 and presenting a lecture at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. A portion of Gorbachev's lecture will address the global environment crisis. In 1993 Gorbachev founded Green Cross International, an environmental organization with a mission to help ensure a just, sustainable and secure future for all.

The Drive Green Package is just one of the many green initiatives that the Inn and Spa at Loretto is engaging in as part of Destination Earth, the green lodging program initiated by management company Destination Hotels & Resorts. Destination is dedicated to practices and programs that pay respect to and lesson the company's footprint on the changing environment. Through a tiered implementation schedule beginning in 2008, Destination Earth will align these core values to support this effort. Over the coming months, the Inn will be implementing a number of green operational practices that include water conservation, energy efficiency, recycling programs, purchasing standards, chemical use procedures, food and beverage sourcing, administrative practices and guest eco information.
