Inn and Spa at Loretto Rekindles Historic Look of Property
Property Offers Special Group Incentive to Mark $7.5 Million Renovation
SANTA FE, NM - April 21, 2008 – The Inn and Spa at Loretto is putting the finishing touches on a $7.5 million redesign, which entailed a subtle transformation which gives the property a refreshed look while further emphasizing its historic beginnings and cultural diversity. To mark the completion of the project, the Inn is offering groups booking more than 50 rooms five complimentary spa treatments.
The striking pottery of the Native American Pueblos is the primary inspiration and theme that can be seen throughout the Inn. The unique terra cotta pottery features crisp lines and geometric shapes, usually in black and white. New carpets, décor, wall hangings and freshly painted hallways and rooms all reflect the Native American artistry, including the nearly 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
The multi-million-dollar project, which will be completed in May, began with enhancing the exterior façade to restore its authentic Taos pueblo stone and mud look and revitalizing the landscaping. Guests will enter the elegantly charming Inn over original brick floors encompassed by walls adorned with authentic pueblo rugs while hallways feature sepia-tone pictures telling a story of Santa Fe in the 1880s. The Living Room Bar, located off the lobby, serves as the social heart of the hotel.
"We are weaving a tapestry throughout the property that will tie together over the years with various enhancements that make the Inn more enjoyable as time goes by," said Robert Zimmer, co-founder Zimmer Associates International.
Santa Fe's Zimmer Associates International is behind the redesign, which was inspired by Native American, Spanish and Western cultures and tied to pueblo architecture. Zimmer is known for creating highly elegant, powerfully distinctive and truly memorable properties.
Guestrooms exude warmth with earth red walls showcasing sketches of the Loretto Chapel. One of the more unique features of the rooms is the lightning bolt stencil at the wall line. Lightning signifies the meeting of Father Sky reaching down to recharge Earth (nearby Four Corners area gets more lightning than any other place in the world). Rich Santa Fe textures and patterns accent the rooms and furniture has also been reupholstered, adding dark, contemporary touches.
The warm tones and Native American inspirations carry through to the Inn’s restaurant. Minor upgrades, including re-stained wood beams, bring a breath of fresh air into the upscale restaurant, which features exquisite dining and is in the process of being renamed.
The meetings and spa special is valid through December 2008. For more information about meetings at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, call 800-727-5531 or visit www.InnatLoretto.com.
