Luminaria will be proudly pouring The Tablas Creek Vineyard Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc by the glass for the entire month of September in celebration of our Wine & Chile wine dinner.  The signature white Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc is spicy and complex, with aromatics of peaches, pears, honeysuckle and anise, and flavors of honey, green apple, pear, and licorice, balanced by crisp acidity on the finish. Tablas Creek farms organically, and received an organic certification January 2003.

Be sure to enjoy all of the fun during the 12th annual Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta running from September 22 to 26!

Luminaria - Modern American Cuisine with Southwestern Flair

At the crossroads where modern sophistication meets rustic Southwestern charm, stands Luminaria, a modern Santa Fe restaurant and patio influenced by the past. Inspired by New Mexico's first inhabitants, the Anasazi ‘Children of the Light,' Luminaria's design, décor and cuisine illuminate the Santa Fe, NM fine dining experience at the Inn and Spa at Loretto. Serving modern American cuisine with Santa Fe flair, Luminaria embodies the unique cachet of its City Different origins, giving way to a distinctive dining journey through time.

In 2008, the Inn enlisted international design consultant and co-founder of Zimmer Associates International, Robert Zimmer and his partner Dolores Hundley Zimmer to infuse character into the hotel's new restaurant. Through their design and décor, they revived ancestral Anasazi history and breathed new life into Luminaria.

The Anasazi's use of minerals-based paint influenced the charcoal grey walls and the white washed pine floors, vigas and latillas throughout the restaurant. Tables built from reclaimed Ayacahuite barn wood and gray resin wicker chairs appointed with plush cushions provide ample seating for guests. A flickering kiva fireplace, copper top adobe bar and colorful paintings by Native American artist Mateo Romero provide further rustic elegance.

If Luminaria's engaging ambiance doesn't keep patrons lingering, the eclectic menu of locally sourced dishes, artful presentations, and an extensive wine list most certainly will. A familiar face at local farmer's markets, Executive Chef Brian Cooper uses indigenous seasonal ingredients flavored with Southwestern spices to give quintessential Santa Fe cuisine a flavorful new twist. Chef Cooper's Southwestern flair emerges in the cumin that spices the award-winning chicken tortilla soup served tableside, in the red peppers that flavor the blue crab enchiladas, with blue corn crepes and red chili cream and in the chef-prepared smoky ancho rub used to season steaks.

The subtle Southwestern nuances of each modern American dish delight every discerning palate with unexpected flavors and textures. Offering an assortment of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections, Luminaria's menu includes signature favorites such as Huevos Rancheros; Blue Corn Apple Pancake with Piñon Syrup; Yucatan Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries; Scallops and Spanish Chorizo with Lemon Späetzle; and Sweet Corn Doughnuts with a trio of sauces.

A special experience not to be missed during the warmer months is dining outdoors at this Santa Fe restaurant on a rustic wood patio adjacent to the hotel's lush garden and the world-renowned Loretto Chapel. At twilight, dining al fresco under the stars transforms the high desert into a romantic veranda draped and tented with flowering vines and luxurious flowing fabrics, lit by hanging lanterns. A less formal, but equally delicious menu is available fireside in The Living Room, featuring various nightly happy hour and late night, reverse happy hour specials.

As stated by Local Flavor, Santa Fe's community paper, the irony of Luminaria's new concept is that it is really an old concept: back to basics. It is a concept that includes shopping for baby beets at the farmer's market, welcoming neighbors with affordable prices, offering diners a sense of belonging, and giving back to the community.

Luminaria is a microcosm of Santa Fe itself, somehow always managing to impart casual sophistication and simple elegance, with near perfection and timeless authenticity. We invite you to join us in Luminaria to experience our interpretation of Santa Fe cuisine. To book reservations at this Santa Fe restaurant, please call us at 505-984-7915.
