Genuine Santa Fe Blog

For centuries, Santa Fe has provided a backdrop for the exchange of ideas and interaction among a range of cultures, including Native American, Spanish, Mexican and American. In search of a higher spiritual calling—from enlightenment to rejuvenation—each of these groups has been drawn to the area’s inspirational, mystical energy.

What they have left behind is a rich culture known as Genuine Santa Fe—a mixture of heritages celebrated at the Inn and Spa at Loretto, one of Santa Fe’s finest hotels. Shaped by the many diverse people that have called this area home, Genuine Santa Fe encompasses an uplifting, rewarding experience for each traveler who passes this way.

Don't just recycle -- reclaim!

It's easy to recycle something, and have the local recycling center "deal" with it. But why not give yourself the challenge, and either create (or buy!) reclaimed goods--i.e. goods that are made from discarded materials? More and more companies are creating cool (both modern and traditional) furniture made from items that would have otherwise been in a landfill. Here are a few of my favorites: I love Gursan Ergil's chairs and benches. Handcrafted in Istanbul, these pieces are true design statements--and are as eco-friendly as it gets: made from reclaimed wood and refinished with non-toxic finishes. From barstools made from recycled rubber from tires to bed frames made from fallen wood, every piece of furniture in your home can be eco-friendly. Eco fashion and home boutiques, including Vivaterra, often feature reclaimed furniture. Check out the Plank Vintage Bed and the beautiful sideboard!

Thank you for making our stay memorable

I want to thank you and your staff for your service and the wonderful dinner we had this past Friday at Luminaria.  From the lovely rose petals on the table, the champagne and scrumptious food to the friendly service and delightful ambience – we were very impressed and enjoyed every minute of our dining experience.

We had a great stay at Loretto.  We arrived very late on Thursday night and your valet attendant kindly greeted me by name.  From the moment we stepped into the lobby we felt very welcomed and “at home.”  I just loved the cozy & warm feeling of your lobby and lounge, where we relaxed Friday evening over a bottle of wine listening to live music (what a talented singer!).  I was also very impressed with the cleanliness of the room. If we had not had so much to see in two days, I think I would have spent a lot of time in bed; it was so comfortable!!

Thank you again for your gracious hospitality and making our stay in Santa Fe so memorable.  I hope to be back soon.

We Will Return!

I brought my entire family to stay at The Inn and Spa at Loretto while we had a wedding at Santuario de La Virgen de Guadalupe. We had many friends & guests also at your lovely Inn and all were very impressed. You have an outstanding staff. From the moment I entered the lobby to check in, I was most delighted with many positive impressions from the single-handed efforts of Charamaine, at the front desk. She is incredibly customer-service oriented, delightful, courteous, and efficient.

We were immediately assisted by Bell staff and 2-carts to haul a huge amount of luggage and supplies to our rooms.  We've been there before, and will return.  The food in LUMINARIA was terrific, and our waiter, Carlos was sensational.

Passport Newsletter Review of Luminaria

The excellent Loretto, where chef Brian Cooper produces superb renditions of contemporary American food with southwestern influences. We enjoyed his expertly grilled scallops and Spanish chorizo with lemon spaetzle, wilted arugula, and sweet corn sauce; and his jicama-citrus salad with micro watercress is outstanding. Many of the fresh, organic ingredients come from the Santa Fe Farmers’ Market.

I am "Raving" to all of my Friends!

Keep up the good work; I am "raving" to all of my friends! I was so pampered while I was there, with great service, fantastic dining experience, and wonderful shops that I won't stay in Santa Fe again, unless I can stay there!

I only wish I knew the names of everyone I came in contact with so they could have individual recognition, but there was no one that didn't give exceptional service. We ate (3) meals there, the food and service was so great! Didn't even try anyplace else; that should say something for the experience.  I just loved the ambiance and entertainment. We relaxed on your wonderfully comfortable furniture, had a couple of drinks to cap off the day, listened to the excellent music of Matthew Andrae and ended up buying (5) of his CDs. The perfect end to a perfect day. The manager was circulating all evening making his guests feel welcome! I thought that was great personal touch. We felt as if we were personal guests in his home!
