Restaurant Recipe: Mexican Chocolate Turtle Cake Recipe

The season has changed and so have our menus in Luminaria. This bittersweet modification has resulted in many requests for Pastry Chef Andrea Clover’s Mexican Chocolate Turtle Cake.  We feel this delicious dessert is too heavy for summertime eats so it was removed from the menu for the time being. As requested by many Luminaria visitors she has revealed below how to make this mouthwatering treat.

Mexican Chocolate Turtle Cake Recipe

Cream together:
1¼ c sugar
½ c oil
2 large eggs

Add and mix slowly:
1 c all-purpose flour
2 tbs cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda

Add and mix until fully incorporated:
½ c sour cream
1 c buttermilk
½ tsp vanilla
½ tsp cinnamon

Other ingredients:
store-bought caramel
store-bought chocolate sauce
pecans
ice cream (if desired)

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes. When cooled cut into desired portions and drizzle with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and pecans. Then warm in a 350 degree oven for 3-5 minutes and serve immediately with a scoop of dulce de leche ice cream. Enjoy!
