Author Forrest Fenn and The Inn and Spa at Loretto Invites Guests on a Treasure Hunt to The Land of Enchantment
Santa Fe, known as The Land of Enchantment for art, culture, history and cuisine, now adds a new lure to its mesmerizing repertoire – treasure hunting.
Somewhere in the mountains north of Santa Fe, NM, a bronze treasure chest filled with gold, jewels, and other riches is hidden. In Forrest Fenn’s latest book, The Thrill of the Chase: A Memoir, clues are given to unlock the secret of the chest’s location. For many, the adventure will begin at The Inn and Spa at Loretto, where guests can book the Thrill of the Chase Package and embark on a scavenger hunt inspired by the author himself. The package includes hotel accommodations for two nights, a copy of The Thrill of the Chase: A Memoir, and Luminaria Restaurant’s signature chocolate dessert at turndown.
Previously owning Fenn Gallery on Canyon Road, Fenn’s pursuit for adventure, passion, and self-discovery shaped him into the person he is today. And, through his book, he hopes to awaken the reader’s sense of adventure and entice them to Santa Fe to experience this thrilling adventure. According to Fenn, “This memoir includes a true story about a secret treasure and an outrageous dare. Unlock the clues that are scattered among these pages and you can go home with a bronze chest that is so full of gold and precious jewelry that it’s almost too heavy for one person to carry.” The intrinsic virtue of this dare is that anyone can get lucky.

The Thrill of the Chase package at The Inn and Spa at Loretto enables guests to vicariously experience some of Fenn’s most cherished moments in Santa Fe. The author-inspired scavenger hunt takes guests on a walking expedition to special places that inspired notable moments in his life. While the hunt may not lead guests to the actual treasure, a delightful dessert at turndown will be the sweet reward for guests staying at the Inn.
